Camden Town Brewery launches Ice Cream Vanilla Lager

Camden Town Brewery launches Ice Cream Vanilla Lager

In anticipation of the warmer weather, Camden Town Brewery is excited to announce its freshest scoop yet, Ice Cream Vanilla Lager.

Fusing two icons for a fresh, never pasteurised beer that’s more refreshing than a soft serve on a summer’s day, Camden’s latest beer is inspired by the unique flavour of vanilla ice cream for a sweet and clean lager.

Originally launched last year as an Arch55, a series of small batch beers from Camden, Ice Cream proved to be the most popular of the series, with an 18 per cent uplift in sales volume compared to the average Arch55 launch. So, for 2022, Camden is bringing it back with a twist and it’s (literally) bigger than ever, launching in Camden’s first-ever 440ml larger can format.

This beer is all about the classics – so no vanilla ice cream judgements here. Camden’s Ice Cream Lager is brewed using new US hop LOTUS – known for its vanilla flavours – and lactose to add creaminess. A small amount of real vanilla essence is then added at the end of the brewing process to round out the sweetness and highlight the beer’s fresh flavours, paired with biscuity grain aromas. As with all Camden beers, Ice Cream Vanilla Lager is never pasteurised, of course.

“There’s nothing better than enjoying an ice cream (and a beer) on a warm summer’s day, and at Camden Town Brewery we thought why not combine two of our favourite flavours?" said Fred Nesbitt, Head of Marketing. "We took inspiration from a summer icon, vanilla ice cream, to create our very own Ice Cream Vanilla Lager. We know our new beer, complete with a bigger 440ml can, is going to melt the hearts of lager lovers everywhere so be sure to keep an eye out for it when it’s on shelves.”

Camden Ice Cream Vanilla Lager will be available in single units at retailers nationwide at £12 for 4 x 440ml cans.

Drink Trends 2025: Navigating economic challenges with innovation and flavour

2025 will do doubt be the year the drinks industry truly feels the repercussions of the global and UK economic climate, political turbulence at home and away, and the duty hikes threatened for such a long time coming into play. While inflation has seen a gradual reduction over the last 18 months, the increase in interest rates and the knock-on effect this has on household expenditure will continue to be a theme as we head into 2025. We may see some prosper, but for many, it will be a year of adaptation, change and resilience. However, as an industry, we innovate, shape tastes and trends, strive to deliver world class drinks to the on-trade and retailers, and find ways to drive pockets of growth.

2025 will not be easy, but it will be interesting and there are areas of growth shaping the industry during the year ahead.
