Apothic forays into varietal wines with Apothic Cab

Premium Californian wine brand Apothic has announced the launch of its first varietal wine, Apothic Cab.

Available from September, the new Cabernet Sauvignon uses grapes carefully selected to combine an intense fruit profile with soft, plush tannins, delivering a wine with a silky-smooth texture.

“Apothic Cab is an outstanding addition to the Apothic portfolio,” said Olga Senkina, marketing director EMEA, E&J Gallo Winery.

“The combination of Apothic’s high brand loyalty, instantly recognisable label, and the popularity of Cabernet Sauvignon, points towards Apothic Cab being a hit with both new Cabernet drinkers and existing consumers eager to sample a more premium Cab.”

Cabernet Sauvignon is the second largest varietal in premium red wine in the UK, with US Cabernets accounting for 38 per cent of the premium Cabernet growth in the last year, according to Nielsen data.

The launch of the new Apothic Cab (13.5% ABV, RRP £9.50) will be supported by PR, digital media and trade marketing activity.
