Police across the UK continue to hunt offenders as multiple convenience stores were hit with armed robberies over the past few days.

In Middleport, detectives are hunting a balaclava-clad gunman who made off with a 'small amount of cash' following a struggle at a city convenience store on Friday (April 11).

The offender, who was wearing a tracksuit, had gone into Middleport's Stoke-on-Trent Supermarket where he put a plastic bag on the till.

Officers say the suspect then produced a gun and threatened the shop worker. "Following a struggle" the offender, described as white and between 22 and 25 years of age, took a small amount of cash from the till and fled the scene.

The incident at the Newcastle Street shop unfolded at around 8.40pm on Friday (April 11). Detectives say they are not sure whether the firearm was an air weapon.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said, "We’ve carried out a forensic examination of the scene and have got detectives carrying out enquiries to find out who the suspect is."

Elsewhere in West Midlands, the police have issued an image of a man related to an armed raid on a city store.

According to local reports, a terrified shop assistant was held up at knifepoint in a daylight raid at a store in Kingstanding Road, Kingstanding. The trader was made to hand over cash after being threatened with a blade.

West Midlands Police on Tuesday (April 15) today issued a CCTV image of a man.

Police did not name of the store but owner, Vinal Desai, last month gave details of the raid at her premises, VR Supermarket.

"The man came in with a knife and bag for the money. My colleague was scared and handed over the money," Desai told Yahoo News.

"Its affected us. We are now scared and don’t know if they are going to come again. Everybody is scared. The man was aged around 21 to 25, with a black hoodie, face mask and black bag.

"This is the first knife robbery we have had but people broke into my other shop at night in Dudley."

CCTV footage showed the raider stroll into the convenience store and demand cash with the blade before leaving in less than 30 seconds. It happened just before 3pm on on Thursday, March 20.

The robber was dressed in black and wore a hooded top, with CCTV footage showing he used the tip of the knife to signal where he wanted the money to be left.
