Asda launches trial of Asian street food kiosks

Asda has announced a partnership with Taiko Foods to open kiosks offering Asian street food meals and snacks in its stores.

The exclusive deal will see Taiko, part of the YO! Group, opening 20 concessions under its new Panku brand in Asda stores across the UK.

The trail will run from March through to May.

Panku, started by friends Neil Nugent and Andy Upton, brings together flavours of pan-Asian food from Japan, Korea and Thailand.

Asda has earlier announced that it will be expanding its food-to-go options this year, working with a number of brands including Greggs, Just Eat and KellyDeli brand Sushi Daily.

Richard Dent, vice president for fresh at Asda, said: “In areas such as ‘food-to-go’, we want to make sure we’re offering our customers a great combination of groceries and ready to eat options.

“Panku is a great fit – it’s an innovative brand offering great value and quality food, with a bit of personality. We’re really excited to be working with them.”
