BBG appoints Ollie Devon Commercial Director for Convenience, Wholesale & Export

Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I has announced that Ollie Devon has been appointed Commercial Director: Convenience, Wholesale & Export.

Devon joined BBG more than eight years ago and has held a variety of senior commercial and finance roles. In his most recent role as Commercial Director for Grocery & e-Commerce, he played a pivotal role in leading initiatives that enhanced growth and distribution within the channels.

His new role will see him continue to collaborate with his customers to help lead and grow the category. He will be taking on the title previously held by Sunny Mirpuri, who has taken the role of On-Trade Sales Director for the UK. Ollie will look to accelerate growth across Budweiser Brewing Group’s iconic portfolio of beers including Budweiser, Stella Artois, and Corona within the convenience channel.

“We’re excited to announce Ollie as our new Commercial Director for Convenience," said Mark Wingfield-Digby, Off-Trade Director. "He brings with him eight years of knowledge and success at the company, accumulated through other positions. We’re confident he will continue to build on all the excellent work Sunny delivered previously, and his experience will be vital in driving continued growth in the convenience and wholesale channel and supporting our customers.’’

Ollie Devon added: "I am incredibly excited to be leading Convenience, Wholesale & Export. With the Convenience sector continuing to excel, I am eager to spend time with new customers and collaborate on innovative growth initiatives together. It's a big year for the convenience channel, with so many opportunities to attract consumers during the upcoming summer period filled with sporting competitions and celebratory moments with friends and family and I’m looking forward to diving in with the team.”

Safer alternatives to cigarettes could save millions of lives and billions of pounds, says think tank

Promoting safer alternatives to cigarettes could save 19 million years of life by 2030 and reduce smoking-related costs to taxpayers by up to £12.6 billion annually, a new report from the Adam Smith Institute (ASI) has revealed.

The think tank argues that the UK government's current approach to achieving a Smoke Free 2030 - defined as reducing smoking rates to 5 per cent or lower - is both illiberal and unworkable and will significantly set back progress against smoking related harm. The ASI warns that policies such as a generational tobacco ban, a new tax on vapes, and restrictions on heated tobacco products and flavours will hinder harm reduction efforts.
