Bottlegreen teams up with Edwards 1902 to create vodka liqueur

Leading premium cordial brand Bottlegreen has teamed up with and potato vodka brand Edwards 1902 to create a superior-quality elderflower vodka liqueur.

The two quintessentially British brands have combined their respective category expertise to craft Edwards bottlegreen Elderflower Liqueur, a truly unique offering for the UK market.

Available in 50cl bottles (RRP £26)with premium, wax-covered closures, the 20% ABV liqueur blends smooth, single-estate potato vodka with cordial containing hand-picked elderflowers to produce the first all-British co-branded elderflower liqueur.

Crafted and hand bottled at the Elsham Wold Distillery in Lincolnshire – only a stone’s throw from where the all-important King Edward potatoes were first cultivated in 1902 and are grown by the Edwards team today – the exclusive new liqueur is the perfect way to elevate cocktail recipes. The joint venture draws on Edwards’ spirits know-how, combined with the flavour expertise of the Bottlegreen Drinks Co.

Edwards bottlegreen Elderflower Liqueur celebrates the very best of Britishness and proudly includes a stylised Union Jack on its label. The liqueur is initially available from Amazon, Master of Malt, selected retailers, and at leading gastropubs and Michelin Star restaurants.

Provenance is integral to the new product: Edwards vodka is made from King Edward potatoes grown locally to the distillery by co-founder Richard Arungel whose family have been farming potatoes for over a century; bottlegreen cordial uses hand-picked elderflowers and Cotswold spring water drawn from an on-site spring. The two constituent parent drinks behind the new launch are multiple award-winners in their own right, including sharing the accolade of being Great Taste award recipients in their respective categories.

“Bottlegreen cordial is well established as a quality ingredient for cocktails, so we were thrilled when Edwards approached us about this exciting joint initiative,” Sarah Lawson, head of marketing – softs at SHS Drinks, said.

“We have 34 years’ expertise in adult-inspired soft drinks and, while this is the first time we’ve put the brand name to an alcohol product, all bottlegreen drinks are crafted using specialist, flavour-enhancing processes traditionally employed by winemakers, so the alcohol category isn’t totally alien to us.”

Emma Hamilton, co-founder of Edwards vodka, added: “To partner with bottlegreen is a great opportunity. The new release results from a very clear meeting of minds. Both companies have a shared objective and, as importantly, a shared approach: Edwards 1902 places quality at the very heart of everything it does, and the same can be said of bottlegreen, and both brands strive to help make great-tasting, first-rate cocktails, be that by skilled bartenders or by consumers in their own homes.”
