Camden Town Brewery toasts 2020 with special beer

Camden Town Brewery prides itself on pushing the boundaries of what a lager can be with their end-of-year beer series, which is now back for its eighth year.

The Beer 2020 Barrel-Aged Imperial Pilsner - just like the year it’s named after - is claimed to be unique. Barrel-aged for eight months to create an elegant lager with white wine-like characteristics, it’s the perfect way to toast the end of a year that we’ll be glad to see the back of.

"Our Beer 2020 makes a sophisticated centrepiece to any dining table," said a Camden Town spokesperson. "Perfect for any occasion you’d usually serve a cocktail or glass of fizz, this aperitif-like lager makes a special treat at Christmas parties, or for gifting to beer-lovers.

"Brewing our annual end-of-year beer truly is a labour of (lager) love. Aged for eight months in both white wine and young Armagnac brandy barrels, Beer 2020 is brewed with our house pilsner malt and Hallertau Tradition hops to get the same clean and fresh taste of our flagship Hells Lager, and Hallertau Blanc hops for grape and gooseberry notes that compliment the flavours from the Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay barrels."

Sophisticated in both taste and style, Beer 2020 is packaged in a gold screen-printed glass bottle featuring a jazz inspired design by Illustrator Gaurab Thakali, perfect for gifting.

Beer 2020 has an ABV of 10 per cent and is available in 500ml bottles for £7.50.

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
