Cawston Press secures B-corporation certification

Cawston Press secures B-corporation certification

British soft drinks brand and experts in pressed juice, Cawston Press has announced its certification as a B-Corporation, achieving the status with a score of 85.3. Since 1986, Cawston Press has been picking and pressing fruit and veg to create delicious drinks made simply with pressed juice.

The brand always prides itself on making its products properly – with no shortcuts, added sugars or sweeteners and "no Jiggery-Pokery", whilst importantly maintaining socially and environmentally responsible practices.

The certification builds on Cawston Press’ commitment to do further good for people and the planet, which has been the driving force behind the brand’s 'Pressing for Better' sustainability strategy. The plan focuses on ten commitments (five people-focused and five planet-focused) linked to three critical United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Climate Action, Responsible Consumption & Production, and Good Health & Well-being.

Steve Kearns, Managing Director at Cawston Press says, "We take immense pride in the quality of our natural ingredients, along with the art of blending them to produce delicious drinks. Nature provides us with all of our ingredients, so it's imperative that we play our part to help protect the environment and the natural world.”

“We began our journey to B-Corp certification two years ago, driven by a team-wide desire to demonstrate our impact in a more structured and quantifiable way, and are proud to now be part of a broader community of like-minded businesses that recognise and act on the need to increase efforts to be better for people and the planet.”

By becoming a B-Corp business, Cawston Press joins the rapidly growing community of over 1,500 B-Corps in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes. Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says, “We are delighted to welcome Cawston Press to the B-Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Cawston Press is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward”.

The certification has provided a solid starting point from which Cawston Press will continue to build upon, with plans to continue its ongoing mission through practices including reducing emissions, reducing food and packaging wastage and working towards net zero.

Cawston Press is also a member of the JEDI Matters Collective (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) as part of its wider mission of brand improvement, comprising a group of four like-minded B-Corp SMEs: Cawston Press, Pip & Nut, Lucky Saint and Anglepoise®. The JEDI Collective encourages collaboration between the businesses, with the aim to build greater efficiency, effectiveness, impact and change, regardless of each member’s individual size.
