Nilesh Goraniya, who runs Sutton Road Stores in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, has been chosen as the winner of an exclusive giveaway offered by beer brand Kestrel in partnership with Asian Trader.

Nilesh will receive £250 worth of Kestrel Extra Premium 7% ABV Lager.

A surprised Nilesh said he is happy to win the prize. “When I entered [the giveaway], I didn't think that I’ll be winning.”

Kestrel Extra final can

The campaign was part of Kestrel’s support to Kestrel Extra Premium 7% ABV Lager as the brand expanded its offering to include Kestrel Extra Premium lager in 500ml cans, exclusive to independent retailers.

“Congratulations to Nilesh for winning £250RSP worth of Kestrel Extra Premium Lager, our newest addition to the Kestrel range,” commented Araminta Karol, brand manager at Brookfield Drinks.

“Here at Kestrel Beer, we continue to support the independent trade by offering exclusive products which give retailers a fantastic sales opportunity.”

Nilesh, who runs the store with his wife Rekha, took over the store on Sutton Road around five years ago, and he says his beer sales have been quite good recently, when compared to what it was before.

“Especially after this lockdown and everything, I think a lot of people have realised what range we do in the convenience stores and what prices they are compared to the supermarket. They were surprised with the prices and the range as well,” he says.

As we speak on 19 July, with most of the Covid-19 curbs – including the rules on face masks and social distancing – being lifted, he says the customers have been “pleased and happy” about the ‘freedom day’. .

“For last few days, all the people coming into the store have been just praising this. Finally, after 18 months, we don't have to wear a mask. And it's good, especially at the time because it's very hot right now. And it's hard to wear the mask, you know, in this weather,” he says.

“But then again, some people will carry on wearing the market a bit more,” he adds.
