CJ Lang announces 'groundbreaking' tradeshow for retailers, suppliers

CJ Lang & Son, the wholesaler behind Spar Scotland, is set to showcase its annual tradeshow this September at the MacDonald Hotel and Resort in Aviemore.

Unveiling the theme, "Raising the Bar", for this year's show, the wholesaler pledged to deliver a “groundbreaking experience” for all retailers in attendance this year.

The wholesaler states social media, "Scotland’s largest show in the convenience retail industry brings together Scotland’s leading symbol group SPAR, independent retailers and company owned store colleagues, CJ Lang & Son wholesale, marketing and trading teams, SPAR UK and SPAR International.

"With the theme “Raising the Bar,” this year’s event promises to be a ground-breaking experience for all attendees including suppliers looking to connect with SPAR retailers and store managers from across all of Scotland."

Paula Middleton, SPAR Scotland Head of Marketing, said, “We are thrilled to welcome over 850 delegates to this year’s tradeshow and conference taking place in Aviemore, where everyone can network and learn about how SPAR is winning in convenience in Scotland. Our goal is to also help suppliers ‘raise the bar’ in their business initiatives by providing them with a platform to highlight their new products and innovations, core product lines and services to a targeted audience.

"Demand from our supply base has been extremely high and we are close to a sell-out, therefore we are urging any supplier who is looking to take part to get in touch as soon as possible to ensure they are not disappointed. We really do have a limited number of stand space left, so I would urge any supplier who has not signed up for the event to do so now.”

The winners of the SPAR Scotland Awards, recognising and celebrating excellence, innovation, and outstanding contributions within SPAR in Scotland, will be announced as part of the evening celebrations. New award categories include SPAR Brand Store of the Year, and the Future Stars Award is being sponsored by the Scottish FA.

'Walkable high streets boost economy'

Shoppers who walk and wheel spend more than those arriving by car, states a recent report, demonstrating the significant economic and social benefits of investing in walkable town centres, challenging traditional views on urban accessibility.

The findings published in third edition of "The Pedestrian Pound Report", recently published by Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, come at a critical juncture for British high streets, with a record number of retail failures in 2022 and a vacancy rate of nearly one in seven by the end of 2023.
