CJ Lang & Son announces new key appointments

CJ Lang & Son, the wholesaler for SPAR in Scotland has strengthened its existing Executive team by making two new appointments.

Chris Boyle joined the company earlier this year on 20th March as Finance Director. Boyle joined CJ Lang from United Wholesale Scotland where he held the position of Finance Director. Prior to this he held a variety of Finance positions within retailers M&Co and Botterills Convenience Stores. He brings with him a wealth of experience in convenience retail and has a deep understanding of this sector.


The second appointment is Della Myers.

Myers will be joining CJ Lang on 3rd June 2024 as Trading Director. She joins the company from Costcutter Supermarkets where she held the role of Trading Director for Convenience in Bestway Retail. She started her career in Asda before moving into convenience retailing and bringing with her extensive experience in commodity market trading and strategic planning.

Myers will be succeeding existing Trading Director Richard Collins who is retiring later this year.

Colin McLean, CEO for CJ Lang & Son commented, “We are delighted that Chris has joined the Executive team and he has settled in well to the role. We’re looking forward to officially welcoming Della to the company in the next few weeks. I’m delighted that they have both chosen to join CJ Lang as we continue on our exciting journey.”

1,100 unsafe soft drinks seized in Southend safety crackdown

Southend-on-Sea City Council officials have secured food condemnation orders from Chelmsford Magistrates Court, resulting in the seizure and destruction of 1,100 unauthorised soft drinks.

The condemned drinks, including Mountain Dew, 7-UP, Mirinda, and G Fuel energy drinks, were found during routine inspections of food businesses across Southend by the council’s environmental health officers.
