Clearspring unveils Seaveg Crispies packaging makeover

Clearspring unveils Seaveg Crispies packaging makeover

Clearspring’s delicious and award-winning Organic Seaveg Crispies range has had a major packaging makeover, which will eliminate almost five million single-use plastic trays each year, the equivalent of nearly 18 tonnes of waste. Clearspring is removing the plastic trays in each pack with no impact on crispiness or taste. This is a much anticipated packaging upgrade across the entire Organic Seaveg Crispies range, reflecting both the company’s and the UK shopper’s desire to cut out plastic, wherever possible.

Clearspring’s Organic Seaveg Crispies, which won Best Organic Snack 2022 at the Soil Association’s Best of Organic Market (BOOM) Awards, is also getting a design refresh, alongside the slimmer, trayless packaging. The different flavours in the range, including Organic Original, Chilli, Ginger and Turmeric, will now be easier to spot with a stronger colour differentiation between each tasty option

In further packaging improvements, the outer pack of the Seaveg Crispies Multipack will now be made from a recyclable paper-based material. The removal of the plastic tray also means space-saving on shelf for retailers, with smaller, more compact shelf-ready trade cases and a reconfiguration of units per case. The Organic Seaveg Crispies Singles range will go from 16 packs per trade case to 20, and the Seaveg Crispies Multipack units will go up from three units per Multipack to five, with six Multipacks in a trade case. Across the entire range, the change in packaging means 25 per cent more product requiring 50 per cent less shelf space.

“We wanted to move towards more sustainable packaging in line with the organic and plant-based credentials of the range and to meet shoppers’ requests,” said Managing Director Maria Dawson.

It was key to do this without having an impact on the taste and quality of our Seaveg Crispies. It is not as simple as it sounds and we had to spend significant time on the upgrade to ensure that we got it right and the same great taste and crispiness remained.

“The recipe for each flavour remains the same with all the great benefits of the Seaveg Crispies range, which includes being organic, plant-based, gluten free, high in fibre, low calorie, MSG free and free from all artificial ingredients. The slimmer packs are now even easier to add to packed lunches for the whole family, pop a few packs in your handbag for on-the-go snacking, or even as a garnish for rice and salad dishes.”

Pernod Ricard UK ignites festive spirit with marketing push

As December rapidly approaches, Pernod Ricard UK is ramping up its festive marketing efforts, anticipating a resurgence in consumer confidence after a challenging year. The UK’s second-largest wine and spirits supplier is set to inspire consumers to choose Premium+ Spirits as the perfect gift or the ultimate addition to any home celebration. Throughout 2024, Premium+ Spirits have consistently outperformed Standard offerings, making this higher end of the sector a vital margin driver.

“Since last Christmas, consumer confidence has been on the rise and the outlook for the final month of 2024 is positive," said Chris Shead, Off-Trade Channel Director for Pernod Ricard UK. "Gifting and hosting remain two key trends and retailers should focus on increasing space in-store for Premium Spirits that act as the perfect gift or cocktail ingredient when wanting to show off in front of friends and family. Where possible, we encourage retailers to prioritise categories that have been capturing the hearts of consumers and this year, our big winners have been Altos Tequila, Kahlúa and Bumbu Rum, and we expect our Champagnes, G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, to be the toast of choice for festive parties this year.”
