The Co-op has announced the appointment of Rachel Izzard as chief financial officer and a member of the Co-op Group board.

She joins from Manchester-based retailer N Brown, where she has been serving in the same role from June 2020.

Izzard started her career at Mobil Oil and British Airways, moving on to a range of senior financial roles. With the forming of International Airlines Group (IAG), she became CFO of IAG Cargo, joining together the cargo businesses of BA and Iberia. In 2015, she moved to become CFO of Aer Lingus, successfully integrating Aer Lingus into IAG.

Izzard will take up the position at Co-op from current interim CFO Mike Hazell, when his term ends in June.

Commenting on the appointment, Shirine Khoury-Haq, group chief executive of Co-op, said: “We’re delighted that Rachel is joining us at such an exciting time for our Co-op. We are all looking forward to welcoming her in June and her wealth of experience will enable us to continue to deliver our vision as a commercially successful co-operative.

“We’re grateful to Mike for the significant contribution he has made in strengthening the underlying financial position of our Co-op during his time here. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future and he will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues at Co-op.”
