Corona turns the heat up with the rollout of Corona Tropical

Corona, part of Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I, has today announced the nationwide rollout of Corona Tropical, an alcoholic sparkling water with made with real fruit juice*. Corona Tropical will continue the rollout of its single and 8x330ml formats in grocery and convenience channels and will launch in a single 330ml can in the On-Trade.

Corona Tropical comes in three exotic flavours: Guava & Lime, Raspberry & Lemon and Grapefruit & Lemongrass. It contains 96 calories and 2.4g of sugar per 330ml can. Corona Tropical offers consumers the characteristic refreshment and quality they expect from Corona, for those moments when they want to explore beyond beer.

Corona Tropical enters the rapidly growing sparkling alcoholic beverage market. The alcoholic sparkling water category has been rising year-on-year, forecasted to be worth £17m in value by the end of 2022, equating to a 193 per cent growth. Corona is the UK’s number one world beer, making it the perfect brand to extend into new formats and segments.

“Corona is a brand born from the tropics; we encourage consumers around the world to disconnect from routine and reconnect with nature," said Liz Hemus, Corona Tropical Marketing Manager. "We’re excited to offer a new Corona beverage to those who love the brand but are looking for options outside of beer. Alcoholic sparkling waters and RTDs have been gaining huge momentum in recent years. That’s why we’ve launched Corona Tropical – offering an alcoholic sparkling water made with real fruit juice.

“It’s been a big year of innovation for the brand following the launch of Corona Cero in March, and we’re excited to expand our super-premium portfolio beyond beer to cater to even more consumer needs. Corona is renowned for its refreshing taste and quality - placing it in the perfect position to grow this category with a super-premium proposition.”

The World Beer segment continues to grow in popularity, Corona has led this trend with volume sales growth of 38.7 per cent since 2018. Corona Tropical will offer consumers a super-premium beer alternative and give customers the chance to buy into the biggest launch of the year in this emerging category to boost their sales. Corona is the brand that is driving the most consumers to trade up to super-premium presenting a fruitful sales opportunity for both On and Off-Trade customers.

To support the launch, Corona Tropical launched a nationwide marketing campaign including installing a real fruit billboard in central London, alongside digital and out-of-home media to showcase the quality refreshment credentials of the brand.
