Costa Coffee expands RTD range with two new variants

Costa Coffee expands RTD range with two new variants

Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) and Costa Coffee have announced two new additions to Costa Coffee RTD range.

Coffee shop favourite Vanilla Latte will join the core range, alongside one of the first Flat White RTD variants in Britain.

Now available in a convenient 250ml can format Costa Vanilla Latte, is designed to tap into 85 per cent growth in vanilla-flavoured RTD coffee over the last 12 months.

Consistent with the rest of the Costa Coffee RTD range which includes Latte, Caramel Latte and Americano variants, the Vanilla Latte offers consumers an authentic coffee experience with less milk and 30% less sugar than its competitors, allowing another of its USPs – Costa Coffee’s signature Mocha Italia blend – to shine through.

The new Flat White RTD combines a double shot of espresso with creamy milk to deliver a stronger coffee taste and velvety texture, with just 76 calories per 200ml can. The brand aims to tap into continued growth in Flat White RTD coffee sales, which have more than quadrupled over the last year.

“Costa Coffee’s coffee shop business gives us insight into the types and flavours of coffee consumers want, and we’re confident our new launches will deliver – bringing new tastes and milk and caffeine profiles to our RTD range just before the peak summer months,” commented Simon Harrison, vice president, commercial development at CCEP GB.

“We’ll continue to support the full range with impactful marketing and sampling activity this year, demonstrating the ranges’ suitability for a variety of consumer occasions.”

Both variants are now available across convenience and wholesale channels and like each variant within the range, the aluminium can format is 100% recyclable.

The RTD coffee sector is experiencing over 20 per cent growth in value, and within this, Costa Coffee RTD doubled in size in 2020, growing ahead of the segment [Nielsen NCB sector report, RTD Coffee, Total GB incl. discounters, val MAT w/e 26.12.20].

Pernod Ricard UK ignites festive spirit with marketing push

Pernod Ricard UK ignites festive spirit with marketing push

As December rapidly approaches, Pernod Ricard UK is ramping up its festive marketing efforts, anticipating a resurgence in consumer confidence after a challenging year. The UK’s second-largest wine and spirits supplier is set to inspire consumers to choose Premium+ Spirits as the perfect gift or the ultimate addition to any home celebration. Throughout 2024, Premium+ Spirits have consistently outperformed Standard offerings, making this higher end of the sector a vital margin driver.

“Since last Christmas, consumer confidence has been on the rise and the outlook for the final month of 2024 is positive," said Chris Shead, Off-Trade Channel Director for Pernod Ricard UK. "Gifting and hosting remain two key trends and retailers should focus on increasing space in-store for Premium Spirits that act as the perfect gift or cocktail ingredient when wanting to show off in front of friends and family. Where possible, we encourage retailers to prioritise categories that have been capturing the hearts of consumers and this year, our big winners have been Altos Tequila, Kahlúa and Bumbu Rum, and we expect our Champagnes, G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, to be the toast of choice for festive parties this year.”
