Courvoisier unveils striking new bottle range

Courvoisier unveils striking new bottle range

Premium French cognac brand Courvoisier has unveiled a striking new look through innovative bottle re-designs across its portfolio.

The newly released packaging, which will be debuted globally, rediscovers distinctive codes from centuries past that made Courvoisier iconic during the Belle Époque era, the opening of the Eiffel Tower and while gracing the royal courts of Europe during the 20th century.

“We are entering a new era for Courvoisier,” said managing director for Maison Courvoisier Jon Potter. “This is an exciting time for our Maison, as we go back to our roots and embrace what Courvoisier was founded on by Félix Courvoisier. From our home in Jarnac to our portfolio of beautiful, floral cognacs, our house believes in being welcoming to all.”

The Beam Suntory-owned brand also announced the retirement of its sixth Chief Blender, Patrice Pinet, and the transition to his successor seventh Chief Blender Thibaut Hontanx.

Pinet joined Courvoisier as production manager in 1989 and was appointed Chief Blender in 2009. Under his direction, Maison Courvoisier became the Most Awarded Cognac House, based on 20 top spirits competitions since 2019, and he created the most luxurious expression of the house, L’Essence de Courvoisier.

Pinet has selected Thibaut Hontanx to succeed him as Chief Blender who has been an integral part of the Courvoisier family, most recently serving as Master Distiller.

“It is a true privilege to continue to make the dream of Maison Courvoisier a reality,” Hontanx said. “As newly appointed caretaker of our exceptional range of cognacs, I will continue to embrace the Maison’s commitment to community. As each drop of our cognac is a collective effort, from our vine growers to our distillers, we value our close-knit group of artisans in Jarnac.”

Courvoisier also welcomed artist and designer Yinka Ilori as its global ‘Ambassador of Joy’ - a role created exclusively for the vibrant storyteller as part of a new global partnership.

Ilori, the London-based multidisciplinary artist, is best known for fusing his subject with his British-Nigerian background to create unique and memorable stories through contemporary design.

He will introduce ‘We Found Joy’, a fully immersive series of global events which brings the beauty of summer in Courvoisier’s home of Jarnac, France, to life. It will kick off in New York City on March 3, 2022 and travel to cities worldwide later in the year.

Swizzels boosts production to meet demand ahead of Veganuary

Swizzels boosts production to meet demand ahead of Veganuary

British sweet-maker Swizzels is increasing production to meet the growing demand for vegan sweets in time for Veganuary 2025.

Popular products like Variety Bags, Drumstick Choos, and Refreshers Choos are among Swizzels’ vegan sweets anticipated to see a significant rise in popularity as consumers continue to seek plant-based options from established brands.

The sweet maker urges retailers to stock up on its expanding vegan range as demand for vegan confectionery continues to grow. In 2024, vegan claims in sugar confectionery have risen by 33 per cent, compared to just 17 per cent in 2019, reflecting the increasing consumer preference for plant-based treats.

With over 25 million participants worldwide in January 2024, Veganuary’s growing popularity highlights the importance of retailers stocking well-known brands to entice customers looking to explore plant-based options.

Swizzels’ vegan range is a popular addition to any retailer’s sugar confectionery selection. The company has also seen a 34.1 per cent increase in its vegan Countlines, including Drumstick Choos, Love Hearts and Refreshers Choos, as well as an 38 per cent increase in its Hanging Bags range and Clipstrips, including Luscious Lollies, Scrumptious Sweets, and Curious Chews.

The sweet maker's popular vegan Drumstick Choos and Refreshers Choos are now available in PMP formats, with a £1.15 MRSP for 115g bags and 12 x 135g SRP.

"Vegan sweets are growing in popularity, with vegan claims now way more common in sugar and confectionery products than they were five years ago," said Clare Newton, Trade Marketing Manager.

"Swizzels has long been ahead of the trend, offering a vegan-friendly range well before the current surge in demand. Today, nearly all of our products are fully vegan, catering to a diverse customer base and helping boost sales for the retailers and wholesalers we work with.

“We are at the forefront of the vegan confectionery movement, offering an exciting range of sweets that deliver the familiar taste and texture of classic treats, all with a plant-based twist!

"Our vegan range is available all year-round, ensuring customers can enjoy their favourite sweets anytime, not just during Veganuary.”

In its sixth year running a campaign in support of Veganuary, Swizzels has made what started as a Veganuary-only movement a year-round trend with the key focus message: "All These, All Year, All Vegan", to promote the extensive range of vegan sweets.
