CSM celebrates Platinum Jubilee with brand-new scone recipe

As the nation gears up to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee CSM Ingredients has launched a new ‘"Victoria Scone" recipe specially created for the occasion which is designed help bakers expand their Jubilee ranges to meet demand. The number of parties and celebrations are set to gather a pace as we head towards the celebratory bank holiday weekend Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June, and as such, product ranges should cater for this very special occasion.

The launch of the delicious Victoria Scone recipe combines two of the most popular and quintessential afternoon tea products to produce a delicious scone with a twist that is set to become a long running favourite.

It’s easy to make with Craigmillar Buttery Scone Mix, Marvello Cake Margarine, butter cream, jam and icing sugar. It’s designed to appeal to all ages and is perfect for indoor and outdoor celebrations and taps into the 2022 trends of returning to the traditional/comfort in old and extending a product’s reach.

The recipe joins a whole new suite of scone recipes focusing on specially selected ingredients that appeal to traditional scone customers and are also designed to draw in new ones to the sector. The recipes include Sticky Toffee Pudding Scone, Apple Crumble Scone, Carrot Cake Scone and Cheese scone.

“We know that scones will be a forming an important part of baker’s repertoires as they gear up for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and we wanted to create a homage to this important milestone and give bakers another quality product to add to their ranges," said Marketing Director, Pastry Mixes, Cristiana Ballarini. "It marries two of the UK’s most popular products and tastes delicious. Perfect for afternoon tea and indoor and outdoor parties we are predicting it will become a mainstay in scone ranges. The new scone recipes also tap into the flavour and insertion trends for the year and add a new dimension to the range of scones on offer.”

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
