Dee Bee Wholesale takes trade expo online

Dee Bee Wholesale has taken its annual May trade exhibition online this year, with astounding success.

As the coronavirus restrictions meant it would be difficult to hold the expo at Forest Pines resort, the Grimsby-based wholesaler quickly adapted to offer an online trade show.

The event smashed the usual sales total with a turnover of close to £1 million.

“We are absolutely thrilled it has been such a success,” commented Andy Morrison, Trading Director at Dee Bee Wholesale.

“As soon as the pandemic started we had to start thinking how we could offer our trade exhibition online within six weeks. This has been achieved with the support from our fantastic team at Grimsby and Hull as well as our wonderful suppliers.”

Morrison added that the response from the customers was unprecedented, with 50,000 cases being sold at the expo.

“We are already considering options for future dates and have really set ourselves a challenge to do better than this!”

Debate heats up as community group calls to boycott self-checkouts

While a community group recently criticised self-service checkouts, saying automation lacks the "feel good factor", retailers maintain that rise in the trend is a response to changing consumer behaviour and the need of the hour.
