Delamere Dairy scoops 13 prizes at International Cheese & Dairy awards

Delamere Dairy has scooped 13 awards including five trophies at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards including the award of supreme champion dairy product for its plain goats’ yogurt.

The award ceremony, held on Oct 21, saw Delamere Dairy beating off more than 4000 other entries. Apart from the recognition for its goats’ yogurt, Delamere also picked up gold prizes for its goats’ milk, cheddar style cheese and its newly reformulated spreadable goats’ cheese.

Delamere Dairy’s plain goats’ yogurt also won the Clawson Salver for the Best Yogurt in Show as well. Keeping it company were the strawberry and honey flavoured goats’ yogurts which won silver and bronze awards respectively.

Newly reformulated in October 2021 and launched for the awards, Delamere’s spreadable goats’ cheese collected The Orchard Valley Dairy Supplies Trophy for the Best Soft Cheese in Show and The Cheese Company Trophy for the Champion Modern British/Irish cheese. The cheese is fresh and creamy with a natural acidity and soft, spreadable texture. Judges commented on its excellent aroma, clean, fresh flavour and superb texture. Made at a family dairy in Wiltshire, the cheese is delicious straight from the pot on crackers, and is also extremely versatile for use in baking and cooking.

Finally, the key to success of all Delamere products, its whole goats’ milk collected a gold award and the ICDA award for Champion Milk in Show, beating competition from fresh and long life, raw and pasteurised, plain and flavoured milk from cows, sheep and goats. A real testament to the quality and mild flavour of Delamere’s goats’ milk.

Delamere’s range also collected gold, silver and bronze awards for its mild and medium cheddar style goats’ cheese, its semi-skimmed goats’ milk and its Greek goats’ cheese.

Budget 2024: Local shops to face significant new pressure

Local shops will face significant new pressures as a result of today’s Budget, the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has warned.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves' budget's impact will be felt unevenly across the UK’s 50,000 convenience stores, with some measures such as business rate relief and the increased employment allowance mitigating costs for smaller independent stores, while providing no help for chains and larger independent businesses.

C-store body warns of 'inflation-busting increase in wage costs'

Convenience store body Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) today (30) has warned the Chancellor about the negative effects of the new National Living Wage (NLW) increase, a day after the Chancellor announced a pay rise for over 3 million workers next year, with NLW rates rising by 6.7 perc cent.

From April 2025, the NLW will increase from £11.44 to £12.21 while 18-20 National Minimum Wage will rise by £1.40 per hour to £10 - the largest increase on record, marking the first step towards a single adult rate.
