Dunnet Bay Distillery launches new bottle, packaging for Holy Grass Vodka

Dunnet Bay Distillery launches new bottle, packaging for Holy Grass Vodka

Dunnet Bay Distillers, the most northerly distillery in mainland Britain, today reveals a bold new look for its award-winning Holy Grass Vodka. Rolling out from next week in Scotland, the new design, which has been created by Pocket Rocket Creative, aims to give the craft Vodka its very own brand identity. It will also be available through Global Brands to the Independents and the on-trade (RRP: £35/ 700ml bottle).

Setting it apart from the rest of the Dunnet Bay portfolio, Holy Grass Vodka is now perfectly packaged in a premium glass bottle. It not only now shows the pale golden hue of the liquid, but has been sprayed with colour to create a greater stand out on shelf. The label, which boasts a fresh font, has been designed to reinforce the hand crafted nature and provenance of the spirit, which is a celebration of local produce and botanicals. These include the hero botanical, Anthoxanthum nitens, a delicate, sweet-scented grass also known as Holy Grass, Bison Grass or Sweet Grass.

The new bottle also now includes a QR code linking to the brand story and recommended serve. Each batch is hand numbered and secured with a fully recyclable “Kelpie Serpent” seal – said to be found in the Thurso river next to where Holy Grass grows.

Holy Grass Vodka is one of the signature spirits from husband and wife team, Martin and Claire Murray, who specialise in creating premium products that celebrate the heritage and provenance of Caithness. They have devised a completely unique way to distil the vodka using Elizabeth, their traditional copper pot still, and Caithness stone. To create a truly unique flavour profile, the vodka is infused with a carefully crafted vapour of Highland apples and apple juice, to complement the sweetness of the Holy Grass. The result is a delicate and fresh Vodka with a creamy smooth finish.

“We launched our Holy Grass Vodka in 2016 as a tribute to Robert Dick, a legendary botanist from Tullibody, who lived in Thurso in the 1800s and discovered Holy Grass,” said Martin Murray, Co-Founder of Dunnet Bay Distillery. “As with our Rock Rose Gin range, we wanted to create a spirit that captures and celebrates the heritage of Caithness and its local botanicals. We are really excited to launch this new look, which gives Holy Grass the attention it deserves as a standalone range. The unique bottle and spray colour are not only aimed at giving it greater stand out in store, but also allow for brand extensions in the future. We can’t wait to see what our customers think”.
