Epicurium seeks taste-testers to ‘banish boring snacks’

Epicurium seeks taste-testers to ‘banish boring snacks’

Snack wholesaler Epicurium has invited snacking connoisseurs to join the team in a mission to 'Banish Boring Snacks'.

After what some may call a gruelling selection process, which will see applicants rank their favourite crisp flavours and ponder over the structural integrity of a pretzel, six successful aficionados will work alongside the Epicurium team to taste-test upcoming products and curate the perfect snack selection.

The tasters will need to be able to work independently and use critical thinking to identify the nuances that take a snack from boring to brilliant. Experience of talking about food on a daily basis is desirable. Snack testers will be able to taste from home as they will receive a ‘Testers Hamper’ through the post each month, for six months.

Ben McKechnie, managing director at Epicurium, who oversees product selection at the company, said: “It’s time to break the monotony of boring, repetitive snacking and instead give the limelight to snacks we know can handle the pace. Gone are the days of bland, soggy crisps and dry breakfast bars which taste like chomping on cardboard, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Come and help us develop the next generation of snack testers to find products that will banish boring snacks once and for all.”

If you think you have what it takes to be a taste tester for Epicurium, apply here . Applications close on 6 March.

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
