Flipz unveils new seasonal sharing packs

Snacking giant pladis has launched new seasonal sharing packs of its Flipz brand.

Available in the brand’s bestselling Milk Chocolate and White Fudge variants, the new packs will help retailers drive incremental sales amid predictions of a bumper December for the grocery sector, the firm said.

“Innovation is at the heart of the Flipz brand and continues to be a key driver of both brand and category growth – in fact, the Flipz brand accounted for 30 per cent of total growth in Everyday Treats over the past year,” said Jonathan Bull, head of McVitie’s Commercial & Seasonal Brands at pladis UK&I.

“We want to replicate this success over on the seasonal fixture, which is the driving force behind this new launch.”

Pladis has increased the size of the classic Flipz bags and added a ‘More To Share’ flash to drive visibility and strengthen appeal among shoppers. Furthermore, novel shapes and on-pack seasonal cues – which include speckles of snow and a snowman ‘i dot’ – will also aim to draw shoppers’ attention at festive fixtures.

“Since launching in the UK in 2018, Flipz has built an incredibly loyal shopper base – with a strong repeat purchase rate of 33 per cent. We’re excited to build on this with our pipeline of innovation, and the new Flipz Christmas sharing packs will help to inject some festive fun in-store, plus we hope these packs will help give shoppers a little lift at the end of a very testing year,” Bull added.

Flipz Christmas sharing packs are available now in major retailers as well as in wholesale and convenience, in a 160g pack format at an RRP of £2.00. Packaging will be recyclable through pladis’ partnership with Terracycle.

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
