Former BP executive appointed GripHero Chairman

Former BP and executive John Carey has been named as the new chairman for hand-protection supplier GripHero.

Mr Carey has previously worked as CEO in various sectors including retail, B2B, refining and lubricants across Europe and the US before joining ADNOC Distribution to lead its $8.5 billion IPO.

The Devon-based business is renowned for developing their ATEX-certified and anti-static dispensers that can be attached to fuel pump handles, providing easy access for customers visiting forecourts.

GripHero has seen demand in sales grow by three times over in 2020 with plans for the global business to expand into a fifth continent by the end of the year.

The hand-protection company says it has been independently verified as the greenest product of its type on the market with a carbon footprint 70% below standard levels.

GripHero founder and chief executive Oli Yeo said: "John Carey brings more than 30 years of downstream experience in the US, Europe and the Middle East, which will prove invaluable as we look to drive further growth and develop new product lines in the future. I am delighted to officially welcome John to GripHero."

Speaking about his new role, Mr Carey said: "GripHero is a fantastic start-up success story that has a unique product which addresses a genuine consumer need for safe, convenient and environmentally friendly hand-protection.

"Oli is a first-class engineer who’s built an impressive business that is primed for further growth, particularly given increasing expectations around safety and hygiene in the Covid-19 era. I look forward to supporting Oli as the company develops in the future."
