Gander becomes Courtauld Commitment 2030 signatory

SaaS-based food waste reduction system Gander has signed up to WRAP’s Courtauld Commitment 2030.

Courtauld Commitment 2030 is a voluntary agreement which brings together a broad range of organisations involved in the food system to make food and drink production – and consumption – more sustainable. As such it enables collaborative action across the entire UK food chain to deliver farm-to-fork reductions in food waste, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water stress that will help the UK food and drink sector achieve global environmental goals.


Gander has signed up as part of its strategic new "partnership approach" whereby joining together with likeminded organisations can make a bigger impact, faster.

The Courtauld Commitment 2030 is a great fit for Gander as its principles for participation include exchange of information – where organisations share information for the common good, for example by sharing best practice and stimulating ideas and discussions. In addition, the Commitment also seeks to identify whole system changes that require signatories to collaborate to deliver savings which they may not be able to achieve on their own.

Gander’s commitment to Courtauld clearly communicates its ambitions to be a leader in sustainability. However, its immediate goals remain the same – to help retailers to successfully reduce their food waste, improve their bottom line, enhance their sustainability credentials and save millions of food items from going to waste. In turn this gives consumers access to perfectly edible food at reduced prices. The new Gander Local Data Feed, via the new SaaS platform, means it reaches more channels than before, leading to more people being connected to reduced food near to where they live.

Gander will achieve its goals through building on the platform through link-ups such as with Snappy Shopper and Olio, and by taking Gander into new territories across the globe.
