Global food giant General Mills has appointed Rob Owen as UK & Ireland sales director, effective from 8 August.

Owen joins the business from Standout Field Marketing where he served as managing director.

His career spans several prominent roles in the FMCG sector including a decade-long tenure at Unilever in various sales roles in the UK, more recently as sales director for Central and Eastern Europe. Earlier, he developed a strong foundation in customer relations and category expertise at Treasury Wines.

General Mills said Owens’ rich and diverse background will further strengthen its capacity to pursue innovative market-growth strategies in partnership with their customers.

Speaking on his appointment, Owen said: “I am truly delighted to be joining General Mills, a company renowned for its exceptional people and outstanding brands. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to a business that values strong, collaborative partnerships across the trade, and I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive tangible results and strategic growth in partnership with our customers.”

Owen will succeed Simon Fisher, who will take on the elevated role of commercial director, leading the day to day running of the UK & Ireland organisation.

General Mills said Fisher, as sales director, has successfully led the sales team at General Mills UK & Ireland through significant changes in both the General Mills organisation and the wider industry over the last few years.
