Giffard wins Best In Class alcohol-free liqueurs at San Francisco Top Shelf Awards

Long-standing liqueur producer and renowned favourite of bartenders across the globe, Giffard, have struck gold at the recent Top Shelf Awards in San Francisco. Distributed and marketed here in the UK by leading independent spirits producer, Mangrove Global, the brand’s range has secured no less than seven separate awards, including Double Golds for its non-alcoholic Pineapple, Elderflower, and Grapefruit liqueurs, and overarching Best in Class for non-alcoholic spirits.

2024 SFWSC Best of Class

The Top Shelf Awards, otherwise known as the San Francisco World Spirits and Ready to Drink Competitions are amongst the most prestigious in the industry and highly-regarded by the spirits and hospitality trades worldwide. As well as the Double Golds, and best in category, the brand won Silver for its non-alcoholic Ginger Liqueur and Bronze for both the Loire Valley Angers and Café du Honduras liqueurs. These accolades come as no surprise, given Giffard is frequently heralded as a trade favourite thanks to the provenance of ingredients and a heritage that’s synonymous with quality.

With sober October and dry January now regularly practiced by Brits up and down the country, more of us than ever understand the importance of quality alcohol-free options – especially when it comes to in-venue drinking and dining. These liqueurs allow bartenders to create quality mixed drinks, with all the occasion and flavour of an alcoholic cocktail, but without the alcohol content. Available to consumers, those well-versed in the art of at-home mixology can also experience how well these liqueurs lend themselves to mocktails.

The alcohol-free liqueur range was launched in 2023 in response to the increasing trend towards moderation. Research carried out by the IWSR earlier this year found that the growth rates of the low- and no-alcohol category outperformed the overall UK total beverage alcohol market between 2022 and 2023. This is being partly driven by the ongoing consumer trend for moderation as well as consumers seeking value which, thanks to changes in the duty regime, can be found in lower ABV products.

Giffard’s partnership with Mangrove Global stretches back years, but the brand also entrusted them with the distribution of the non-alcoholic range. Their joint ambitions to garner the same high-regard and on-trade success enjoyed by its longstanding SKUs.

“Gifford’s success at the Top Shelf Awards endorses what we have long been told about the range through consistent on-trade feedback,” said Nick Gillett, Managing Director of Mangrove. “These liqueurs are of exceptional quality and the alcohol-free range offers that same experience, without the alcohol content and without compromising on flavour.”

Giffard’s alcohol-free range includes the flavours Grapefruit, Ginger, Elderflower, and Pineapple, which compliment the brand’s already sizeable range of alcoholic liqueurs and highly-flavoured syrups.
