Guinness launches ‘Cold Brew Coffee Beer’

Guinness launches ‘Cold Brew Coffee Beer’

Guinness has announced that addition of Cold Brew Coffee Beer (4% ABV) to its iconic portfolio, where ice cold Guinness meets cold brew coffee.

Launching today at Tesco in a 440ml can format, the latest innovation will be rolled out across the off-trade including wholesalers and convenience throughout April, May and June.

With flavoured alcoholic drinks continuing to grow in popularity, and 95 million cups of coffee being consumed each day in Britain, Guinness Cold Brew Coffee Beer brings the magic of Guinness and coffee culture together. Exciting existing Guinness drinkers with new ways to enjoy the stout, the new brew also aims to recruit new adult drinkers to the brand.

Guinness Cold Brew Coffee Beer is being supported by marketing spend in its first year which includes social media, influencer and advocacy activity.

John Burns, Head of Guinness GB, said: “We are delighted to launch Guinness Cold Brew Coffee Beer in Great Britain this week, complementing traditional notes of Guinness Draught with a refreshingly modern new flavour to delight Guinness fans, and introduce our iconic beer to prospective new fans.

“We firmly believe we have created a taste experience truly unrivalled in the market and with over 95 million cups of coffee being consumed every day in Great Britain alone, now is the moment to offer a product which plays to an excitingly vast consumer space. There is already a natural connection with coffee notes in Guinness’ signature offerings like Draught and Extra Stout, so the creation of Guinness Cold Brew Coffee Beer was a perfect match.”

To deliver the refreshing new taste, cold brew coffee – coffee which has been steeped in cool water for long periods of time instead of brewed with boiling water – is added to Guinness Draught, alongside additional roasted barley flavours, to balance delicate notes of delicious coffee, chocolate and caramel from the first sip to the last: with approximately 2mg of caffeine per can, the same as a decaf coffee.

Guinness Cold Brew Coffee Beer is the newest permanent offering from Guinness, brewed at St. James’s Gate in Dublin. Recent innovation from the brand includes Guinness 0.0, alcohol-free beer, as well as Guinness MicroDraught on-tap technology – utilising a “’keg’ so small, it comes in a can”.

RRP: £5.50 for 4x440ml pack
