Heysham Nisa Local launches half hour home delivery service

Shoppers at a Lancashire independent convenience store are making the most of a new 30-minute delivery service being offered by their local Nisa retailer.

The Nisa Local Beech Stores near in Heysham, launched the facility to improve support within the community following the coronavirus outbreak.

Nisa partner James Brown started making home deliveries at the height of the lockdown receiving many orders by telephone, resulting in overtime amongst staff.

An online ordering system via the store’s Facebook page is now available, freeing up employees time to then arrange the orders for delivery.

Speaking about the service, Mr Brown said: “The demand during lockdown was big and so we started making deliveries but I knew we needed to find a better solution because taking orders over the telephone was really time consuming when the shop was already busy.”

The retailer has now branded up his van to advertise the new service with a promise to deliver within 30 minutes from requests being placed.

“Our unique selling point is the turnaround we’re offering. Shoppers access the ordering site through Facebook and can browse through all the categories,” he explained. “There are special offers on there and it’s very simple to use. There are no inflated prices and a small delivery charge with a minimum spend of £10.”

Although only in its infancy, Mr Brown said the service has been welcomed and he hopes that once shoppers have used the facility once, they will continue to return.
