Ho-Ho-Hovis brings some festive cheer

Ho-Ho-Hovis brings some festive cheer

The 137-year-old British bakery brand Hovis has announced the launch of its limited-edition "Ho Ho Hovis" seasonal pack designs, created to infuse a touch of festive spirit into some everyday bakery favourites.

The festive packs are rolling out onto retailers’ shelves for a duration of seven weeks. Featuring across some of Hovis’ much-loved loaves, including Soft White and Best of Both, the limited edition designs will bring some seasonal “sparkle” to bread fixtures across the country.

Hovis Soft White Medium is the biggest-selling medium-sliced large loaf of pre-packaged white bread in GB, while Hovis Best of Both is a loaf that is particularly suited to families, delivering the great taste of white bread with wholemeal flour. Hovis Best of Both is rich in calcium and a source of fibre.

In addition to the light hearted seasonal pack designs, as part of wider seasonal activity, Hovis has also developed some bold and distinctive “must have” Ho Ho Hovis Christmas jumpers and bobble hats to be won as part of an online consumer competition, with a further limited number available for purchase online.

“Whilst we hope to bring a smile to people’s faces with some of our light hearted festive activities, we are also acutely aware that Christmas can be a difficult time for many families," said Claire Parlour, Marketing Director at Hovis. "This year Hovis will be continuing its long standing relationship with FareShare to try and ensure that some of those most in need are supported.”

As part of its festive campaign, Hovis is taking its collaboration with FareShare a step further and will ensure over 250,000 loaves (equivalent to nine million sandwiches or 18 million slices of toast) are provided to FareShare by the end of 2023. Over the last four years, Hovis has provided in excess of one million loaves to FareShare as part of its ongoing collaboration.

Polly Bianchi, Director of Fundraising at FareShare, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the support from Hovis, which will make a huge difference to getting more food to people who need it. Food insecurity fuels both hunger and loneliness, and without enough food, inviting friends and family over becomes a challenge. Support from our partners is so important at Christmas, so that good-to-eat surplus food can be shared with communities across the UK, instead of going to waste.”

The full limited-edition Ho Ho Hovis Christmas packaging line-up includes:

  • Hovis Soft White Medium 800g with an RRP of £1.39
  • Hovis Soft White Thick 800g with an RRP of £1.39
  • Hovis Soft White Extra Thick 800g with an RRP of £1.39
  • Hovis Best of Both Medium 800g with an RRP of £1.35

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
