Keogh’s Crisps, driving Ireland’s premium crisps market

Keogh’s Crisps, driving Ireland’s premium crisps market

Ireland is the home of several iconic brands that are renowned worldwide, including Kerrygold, Jameson and Guinness. A relatively new player, Keogh’s Crisps, looks to be on track to join the ranks of these hero brands that fly the green flag. Award winning, premium and hand-cooked, Keogh’s Crisps is the brainchild of a third generation of the Keogh family, CEO Tom Keogh, who grew up on the farm in North County Dublin, and is the visionary behind the brand’s success.

Not only have Keogh’s won 22 Great Taste Awards but in 2022, Keogh’s Crisps dug up a major accolade winning ‘Irish Exporter of the Year’ by the Irish Exporters Association as well as a second win as ‘Food & Drink Exporter of the Year 2022’.

Testament to this is the fact that Keogh’s Crisps is available in 18 markets worldwide including the USA, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Switzerland to name a few. Equally, international airlines have adopted the brand on-board serving Keogh’s Crisps around the world including on Ryanair’s 3000+ daily flights across Europe and a recent contract win with Singapore Airlines, not to mention their crisps being served on Emirates first class.

From a family heritage of hard work and passion for quality, Keogh’s farm is committed to producing Ireland’s finest potatoes, crisps and snacks that are truly “Grown with Love in Ireland”. The range is gluten, GMO and MSG free, making it the perfect snack for anyone and everyone. The brand is one of Ireland’s fastest growing crisps, now accounting for 11 per cent share of premium crisps in Ireland and is still experiencing strong growth at 15 per cent year on year to June 2022.

Growing up on the Keogh family farm where generations of Keoghs farmed potatoes, 2011 saw CEO Tom Keogh take the family business to a next level creating the Keogh’s Crisp Brand. According to Tom there was an untapped opportunity to be had, ‘I saw huge potential to produce an authentic Irish potato product that would travel, and hence Keogh’s Crisps was born. Ireland has an incredibly strong reputation internationally for its food and beverage, particularly the Irish potato. This is thanks to Ireland’s strong agricultural roots, green fertile lands and high-quality production process.’

The Keogh’s Crisps business has developed a strong reputation as innovators in the Irish food business being the first food producer to be accredited as a carbon neutral business. This approach is intrinsic to everything they do, coming from generations of farmers, they are dedicated to working in harmony with mother nature. The farming family has done huge work on the ground with Ethiopian potato farmers in developing their agronomy practices through knowledge sharing with Vita.

With these inroads made over the last 10 years, the growth of Keogh’s Crisps in international markets is surely one to watch. One thing that is a certain, the brand will keep to its authentic family roots keeping it from ‘crop to crisp’. www.keoghs.ie
