KP Snacks launches new Tyrrells recycled plastic pack

KP Snacks launches new Tyrrells recycled plastic pack

KP Snacks today announces the introduction of 25 per cent recycled content packaging across its popular Tyrrells sharing range. This new packaging initiative, which incorporates recycled soft plastics, will reduce reliance on virgin plastics for packaging.

The roll out of the new Tyrrells sharing bags are another positive step towards delivering KP Snack’s commitments to the UK Plastics Pact and its People & Planet targets in support of a circular economy for flexible plastic.
Since 2014, KP Snacks has removed 1,100 tonnes of plastic packaging across its portfolio. The Tyrrells packaging update follows a recent investment in new flow wrap equipment, reducing 35 per cent of plastic packaging across its classic Discos, Roysters and Frisps ranges.

Available in stores from the end of March, the new packaging will feature best-selling Tyrrells flavours, Lightly Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar, Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper and Mature Cheddar & Chive, in 150g formats. The new packs will feature a green on-pack flash that calls out the use of the recycled plastic.

“This new packaging innovation is a key milestone for the Tyrrells brand," said Beth Minch, Marketing Manager, Tyrrells. We know our customers care about great taste and quality, but also the environment. Sustainability continues to influence purchase decisions and the new Tyrrells sharing bags will appeal to environmentally-conscious consumers.”

John Leslie, Packaging Technology Manager added: “As an industry leader, we understand we have a responsibility to drive change. We aim to support the use of recycled plastic in our packaging as it becomes available, facilitating the drive towards a circular economy and a more sustainable future. By introducing recycled content to our Tyrrells sharing bags, we are beginning to close the loop on packaging while reducing the need for virgin plastics. This latest packaging innovation forms part of a broader cross-brand strategy designed to minimise our environmental footprint.”

Worth £63.3m and growing in value by eight per cent, Tyrrells has a 13.4 per cent share of Premium CSN. With an impressive 91 Great Taste Awards across the range, Tyrrells offers a tasty snack that makes at-home occasions feel more special.

Drink Trends 2025: Navigating economic challenges with innovation and flavour

2025 will do doubt be the year the drinks industry truly feels the repercussions of the global and UK economic climate, political turbulence at home and away, and the duty hikes threatened for such a long time coming into play. While inflation has seen a gradual reduction over the last 18 months, the increase in interest rates and the knock-on effect this has on household expenditure will continue to be a theme as we head into 2025. We may see some prosper, but for many, it will be a year of adaptation, change and resilience. However, as an industry, we innovate, shape tastes and trends, strive to deliver world class drinks to the on-trade and retailers, and find ways to drive pockets of growth.

2025 will not be easy, but it will be interesting and there are areas of growth shaping the industry during the year ahead.
