KP Snacks saved 410 tonnes of plastic packaging in 2021

KP Snacks saved 410 tonnes of plastic packaging in 2021

KP Snacks said it achieved a 410 tonne reduction in plastic packaging in 2021, reducing consumer packaging by 6.8 per cent across a number of brands.

The snacks business saved 142 tonnes of plastic across heritage brands Skips, Nik Naks and Space Raiders, freeing up space on retailers’ shelves and resulting in 644 fewer lorry journeys. Additional packaging modifications also saw plastic reductions across McCoy’s, Hula Hoops and Butterkist, as well as KP Snacks market leading PMP range.

The move follows a 77 tonne packaging reduction in 2020 across Hula Hoops, Tyrrells, and popchips, the introduction of a KP Nuts’ fully recyclable Christmas nut caddy and a 100 per cent recyclable KP Peanut Butter jar.

Whilst KP Snacks is dedicated to reducing plastic and packaging across its supply chain, the manufacturer is also taking steps towards closing the loop on its packaging materials.

“We’re committed to lessening the environmental impact of our activities and this investment in reducing plastic across our portfolio is just the first step in this process," said

Nicola Robinson, Head of Sustainability at KP Snacks says. "While reducing plastic in our supply chain is a key element of our approach, we also recognise our responsibility to help develop recycling solutions over the long term so that ultimately, we can turn our crisp packets back into new crisp packets. Achieving this will require deep collaboration across the value chain, which is why we’re proud to be a member of the Flexible Plastics Fund, as well as partnering with TerraCycle® to help support infrastructure development within the UK.”

Highlighting benefits of KP Snacks achievements to retailers, Matt Collins, Trading Director added, “As a category leader, we are committed to building on our existing programmes of packaging reduction, recycling and sustainable sourcing to ensure our business – and the planet and communities on which it depends - thrive for generations to come.”

Jameson teams up with Admiral, for a tracksuit modelled by Kyle Jameson

Irish Whiskey brand Jameson has been the English Football League's (EFL) main spirits sponsor for two seasons and is deeply entrenched in all aspects of the league, including player sponsorships. It has now signed up with Admiral to celebrate both brands' association with the beautiful game. They have worked closely together to create a full retro-inspired tracksuit in Jameson’s signature green, featuring key elements from Admiral’s world-famous designs for team performance wear, to create a slouchy royal green trackie ready prepped for pubs, presents, party games and freezing cold five-a-sides this Christmas.

Jameson shares a history rich with the beautiful game, so teaming up with an iconic heritage brand like Admiral felt like a natural fit, with the results speaking for themselves,” said Josh McCarthy, Brand Director for Pernod Ricard UK. “A classic tracksuit, from two classic brands, to look sharp after the match when buying your mates a round of Jameson, Ginger and Lime. Nostalgia is everywhere at the moment and growing up in Leicester, there was no shortage of Admiral tops in the park and at the local football clubs.”
