KTC launches fully traceable and sustainable palm oil

KTC Edibles Ltd has launched a full-traceable, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), as part of its ongoing sustainability programme.

Palmax IP (identity preserved) sets a new standard in sustainability for food service customers and is ideal for companies who care about environmentally friendly, ethical production.

It provides complete transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain, right back to the original mill and surrounding plantation.

The product launch is part of KTC’s continued commitment to transition to 100% RSPO certified sustainable palm oil by 2022.

As Britain’s largest independent manufacturer and distributor of edible oils, the company plans to launch an extensive range of identity preserved palm oil.

This also includes palm olein, stearin and high oleic palm oil products over the coming year.

Gary Lewis, head of business development for Oils and Fats at KTC and President of NEODA, said: “KTC are serious about sustainability, and our mission is to make certified sustainable palm oil the norm across the entire food industry – and we want to make it as easy as possible for every customer to make the right decision.

“Palmax IP is the gold standard in RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil, for the food service industry and manufacturers.

“We are actively looking to educate customers about the benefits of sustainability, while encouraging them to adopt sustainable solutions.”

Palmax IP is sourced and grown at a palm plantation in northern Colombia owned by Daabon, a global leader in sustainable agriculture.

The company holds a wealth of sustainability accreditations and memberships, including Rainforest Alliance, Palm Oil Innovation Group and RSPO certification.

The launch of Palmax IP is part of a wider update to the look and feel of the Palmax range.

In addition to updated box designs for Palmax IP, the range also includes Palmax SG (RSPO segregated, certified sustainable) and Palmax.

In addition to supplying cooking oils and fats across the UK, KTC produces and distributes a range of world food products, through its flagships and Suncrest brands, and through partners worldwide.

Store denies 13-year-old alcohol claim, keeps licence

A Weston-super-Mare shop has been told it can continue selling alcohol, after it insisted police claims that it had sold alcohol to a 13-year-old girl were untrue.

The police had called for Weston Convenience Store to lose its licence to sell alcohol over the alleged sale in October 2022 and what they said were other subsequent breaches of its licence — but the police provided no evidence of the underage sale except for a statement that police had later visited the shop. North Somerset Council’s licensing subcommittee ruled that the shop could continue to trade with no changes to its licence.

Britain's big retailers, including Tesco, Sainsbury's, M&S and Next, say they are stepping up their drive for efficiency through automation and other measures, to limit the impact of rising costs on the prices they charge their customers.

As the UK economy struggles to grow, the new Labour government's solution is a hike in employer taxes to raise money for investment in infrastructure and public services, which has prompted criticism from the business community.
