Lindt Celebrates 75 Years of LINDOR

Lindt Celebrates 75 Years of LINDOR

This September, Lindt & Sprüngli is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its LINDOR brand. Since its debut in 1949, LINDOR has been synonymous with luxurious chocolate, with its smooth melting centres and fine Swiss craftsmanship from the Lindt Master Chocolatier.

To mark this occasion, Lindt is running a national competition to giveaway over £600,000 worth of prizes, with thousands of prizes to be won across the promotional period. Not only that, Lindt will also be running a prize draw competition, for the chance to win a luxury trip for two to Zurich, Switzerland, which includes a deluxe tour to the Lindt Home of Chocolate.

"Our 75th anniversary is not just a celebration of our past, but a toast to the future." said a Lindt spokesperson. "We’re incredibly grateful to our loyal customers who have made LINDOR a part of their special moments over the decades. We look forward to many more years of bringing moments of bliss and indulgence to chocolate lovers around the world."

The LINDOR recipe was created in 1949 and was an instant sensation as customers thought it made chocolate taste like liquid gold. It’s no surprise then that LINDOR combines the French word for gold ("or") with Lindt to epitomise the finest smooth melting chocolate.

The signature lace pattern on the front of the LINDOR packaging was first introduced in 1962. Inspired by the famous St Gallen lace, the pattern references a sense of luxury, skill and refinement, whilst staying true to Swiss heritage. It has remained a hallmark to this day, visually demonstrating a promise to maintain the highest quality in everything LINDOR creates.

As a seasonal treat for Christmas in 1969 – almost 20 years after the recipe was invented – Lindt began selling their renowned LINDOR chocolate as round truffles in red wrappers to resemble Christmas baubles. With a smooth hard outer shell and creamy melt-in-your-mouth filling, the LINDOR truffles quickly became a favourite, and an instantly recognisable treat, adored around the world.

Today, Lindt produces over one billion LINDOR truffles in almost 100 different countries worldwide with a rainbow of mouth-watering flavours from Salted Caramel, Double Chocolate, to White, Dark and Blood Orange. Many seasonal and limited-edition varieties are available with exclusive flavours available in the Lindt Chocolate shops throughout the country.
