Mallow & Marsh brings back coconut flavour to core range

Mallow & Marsh brings back coconut flavour to core range

Back by popular demand, Mallow & Marsh’s coconut mallow is making a comeback, ready to delight taste buds once again.

It was previously launched in 2017 and quickly became the brand’s second best-selling product.

The returning flavour has been redeveloped with a new, premium recipe to deliver an outstanding coconut flavour. The chocolatey creation is available in both a mallow bar and sharing pouch format, and features a creamy coconut mallow, encased in a velvety smooth, Belgian Fairtrade milk chocolate.

After hearing the pleas of fans on social media, along with conducting consumer research whereby a staggering 85 per cent of respondents said they would be likely or very likely to purchase the coconut mallow and 89% said they enjoyed the taste, the company announced that the tropical mallow would be back in stores once again.

Bar Coconut new

“Our consumer research showed us that coconut comes out top for our customers, so we listened to this feedback and decided it was time to bring back the much-loved, nostalgic flavour to our core range," said Jonathan Burr, Commercial and Marketing Lead.

“We have no doubt that the new flavour will be a welcome return for our loyal customers, within the first 10 days of its online soft launch, the product sold out within 60 minutes of being on-sale, becoming the fastest selling mallow as a result! We hope it will also attract solus shoppers to the category and brand too.”

Based in Harrogate, Mallow & Marsh's chocolatey mallows have a surprising texture and classic, crafted flavours. Made using the finest quality ingredients, including Belgian Fairtrade chocolate, they contain no artificial colours or flavourings, whilst being 100 per cent palm-oil free.

The reintroduction of the flavour follows Mallow & Marsh’s recent brand refresh, which sees it move away from its permissible health perceptions and instead towards premium indulgence, aligning with its quality attributes.

Mallow & Marsh’s Milk Chocolate over Coconut Mallow Bar (RRP: £1.35/35g) and the Sharing Pouch (RRP: £2.65/100g) will be available in April.

Branded cheese accounts for 40 per cent of total cheese value sales, with it being worth a total of £1.2 billion, growing 6.6 per cent in value sales YOY, while private label accounts for 60 per cent and is worth £1.8 billion, growing four per cent YOY.

Heloise Le Norcy-Trott, Group Marketing Director for Lactalis UK & Ireland explains: “After two years of contracted volume sales the cheese category has an opportunity to regain momentum. Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, these are the cheese trends we think retailers should be aware of.”
