A Plymouth man will appear before a Crown Court judge next month charged with robbing a Whitleigh convenience store at knifepoint.

Tyler Wood appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court following his arrest by police last week in connection with the alleged robbery of Norwich Stores in Norwich Avenue the previous day.

According to local reports, Wood is alleged to have entered the shop brandishing a large knife and demanding cash. He is alleged to have fled on foot with around £300 cash after grabbing it from the till.

A manhunt ensued and following the release of CCTV images, a man was traced by detectives from Plymouth police's Priority Investigation Team and arrested at an address in Brentford Avenue in Whitleigh.

Wood was later charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place. No pleas were offered when he appeared before magistrates.

Magistrates remanded him into custody to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on September 25 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Delayed third phase of post-Brexit border rules takes effect

The delayed third phase of Britain's post-Brexit border regime for imports from the European Union will begin on Friday - four years after Britain left the bloc's single market and nine years after it voted to leave the EU.

After Brexit, such was the scale of Britain's task to untangle supply chains and erect customs borders, that it only started imposing new rules last year.
