A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a Costcutter store in Woodthorpe, York.

The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday (7 September), when the suspect entered the store, threatened staff, and stole cash from the till.


Following an immediate investigation, which included the release of CCTV images and a public appeal for information, officers arrested the suspect. He has since been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

“We’re extremely grateful to members of the public who have supported our enquiries by providing information. We also continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area, or may have captured relevant CCTV, video doorbell or dashcam footage, to get in touch,” North Yorkshire Police said in a statement.
