Man arrested for Brighton knifepoint shop robberies

A man has been arrested in connection of threatening two shopkeepers at knifepoint in Brighton.

The 27-year-old was arrested yesterday (Tuesday,15th September) on suspicion of robbery, attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.


Sussex Police confirmed the man remains in custody for questioning.

Officers received reports of a man wearing a blue surgical face mask who threatened the c-store workers on Tuesday, 8th September.

The first incident happened at Your Friendly Shop on Upper North Street, at 6.15pm where the shopkeeper was threatened with a knife before the suspect took alcohol and cash from the till.

Shortly after 7pm the same man is believed to have entered the Wine Library on Norfolk Street demanding for money but left empty handed following a disturbance outside.

No injuries were reported.

Armed robberies hit three  mid-Ulster c-stores, accused arrested

Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies at convenience stores in mid-Ulster, which took place on Thursday (30).

The first incident occurred just before 7am at McCrystal’s Day-Today, a filling station on Ballinderry Bridge Road in Coagh. Two masked men, one wielding a handgun, entered the store and threatened staff, holding a weapon to one man's head before forcing him to open the till.
