Mars Food UK donates £100k towards Trussell Trust campaign

Mars Food UK and the Trussell Trust have confirmed a new partnership that begins with on-pack promotion to encourage the nation to prevent a hunger crisis.

The STAND AGAINST HUNGER® campaign will see the food manufacturer donate £100k to the charity, supporting the distribution of two million meals in three-day emergency food parcels across food banks in the UK.

Mars Food UK said they believe that every family should be able to enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of having dinner time together.

For that reason, the company has pledged to support more families in achieving shared mealtimes and provide food security for the most vulnerable in society.

Speaking on the new campaign, Craig Sargeant, general manager at Mars Food UK says: "Family dinnertimes are hugely important and we're proud to be working with the Trussell Trust to help families in crisis, especially during this time of uncertainty.

“We hope the campaign will raise awareness about the issue of poverty and increase support for the Trussell Trust and local food banks, at a time of increased pressure on food bank services."

Emma Revie, chief executive of the Trussell Trust, said: “We’ve seen unprecedented numbers of people needing help from food banks as the impact of coronavirus has hit people’s incomes.

“This isn’t right. But thanks to the ongoing support of Mars Food UK, food banks in our network will be better equipped to provide the lifeline of emergency food to people in crisis.

“But ultimately no one should ever need to use a food bank. Our partnership with Mars Food UK will not only help food banks today but will help us work towards a future where everyone can afford their own food.”

The on-pack promotion is supported by a through the line campaign that will include print media, online content, a social media & influencer campaign as well as a in store promotions.

The promotion will run across select Uncle Bens® and Dolmio® products and will be available in all retailers and wholesalers from August until October.
