McVitie's launches new BN Popping Candy Cake Bars

Global snacking company pladis has unveiled its latest addition to the cake lineup: McVitie's BN Popping Candy Cake Bars.

Available in two timeless flavours – Crackling Chocolate and Sizzling Strawberry – McVitie’s BN Popping Candy Cake Bars offer a delicious combination of velvety chocolate or soft strawberry sponge, topped with smooth chocolate cream or traditional light cream respectively, with both offerings filled with popping candy pieces.


Available in packs of five individually wrapped bars, they’re perfectly-portioned for family shoppers looking to add some extra excitement to snack time – whether it’s as a lunchtime treat or an evening indulgence.

The launch follows hot on the heels of BN’s successful expansion into cake earlier this year, with the launch of McVitie’s BN Mini Rolls generating £0.9 million RSV since landing on store shelves.

pladis now aims to take this to new heights and replicate the success of McVitie’s BN in biscuits where, so far this year, sales have already topped £4.3m.

“Sales of McVitie’s BN have soared since it returned to supermarket shelves last year,” said Niall O’Connor, senior brand manager – cake at pladis UK&I. “So we’re now taking everything we know about why shoppers love our BN biscuits and applying this to a complementarycategory– cakes.

“We’ve already started this with McVitie’s BN Mini Rolls and, since launching in January, this product has helped us welcome a whole new cohort of cake-lovers to the brand. Now we’re taking things up a notch with McVitie’s BN Popping Candy Cake Bars.

McVitie’s BN Popping Candy Cake Bars are available at an affordable RSP of £1.25 in Asda from this week, as well as in the convenience and wholesale channels.
