Mevalco is 'El Gran Queso' with new cheese range for UK

Mevalco, the home of Spanish fine foods, has launched its new and unique cheese range for Autumn and Winter 2022.

Expanding its award-winning range, the Spanish importer has now partnered with family business Quesos Cerrón to add an inspirational new range of goat’s cheeses to its existing line up.

Queso Cerrón Madurado Du Cabra Servilleta

Queso Madurado Du Cabra Servilleta is a delicious, semi-soft goat’s cheese typical of the Levante region. A lovely artisanal product made with goats’ milk, where the curd is pressed with a cloth and allowed to drain for hours until it acquires its characteristic "cloth shape". It has a wonderful flavour with notes of yoghurt and cream and is a fabulous addition to any cheese board which gets better when warmed up and served at room temperature!

For the real connoisseur – this mature cheese captures the very essence of Spain . The team at Quesos Cerrón skillfully pasteurises the day’s fresh milk at a very low temperature. The cheese is then matured further for 30 – 40 days, allowing a wonderful buttery flavour to develop with irresistiblecaramelised aromas.

“We are continually on the look-out for cheese producers which are artisanal and exceptional that we know will add value to retailers/chef’s ranges, and the Cerrón range does just that," said Justin Slawson, Joint Managing Director at Mevalco and founder of The Cheese Cellar Company.

“When we first discovered the range, we know immediately that we wanted to bring it across the UK and offer it to our customers. It has a definite place on cheese boards across the best establishments and foodies at home.”

Quesos Cerrón’s story began in 1987 when Juana Garcia and Juan Jose started to make their goats’ cheese in the basement of their home following Juana’s mother’s traditional cheese-making methods. Their cheese quickly became sought after and the team at Cerrón has always kept its local provenance using ingredients from the area whilst creating unique flavours that epitomise the very best of Spanish cheese.
