Minor Figures secures B Corp certification

Oat milk brand B Corp Certified Company

Oat milk brand Minor Figures has announces it is now a B Corp Certified Company.

The brand is now one of just 4,856 B Corps globally, adding that it is proud to be among the ranks of companies setting the new standard for the way business should be done.

Awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab, the B Corp Certification is more than just a sustainability label. It’s also a movement, with the collective goal of transforming the global economy to benefit people, communities, and the planet (the ‘triple bottom line’).

Minor Figures is now one of a select number of B Corp Certified, 100 per cent Carbon Neutral companies across the world.

Ben Vear, Minor Figures General Manager (EMEA), said: “Sustainability has always been at the core of our business, having become Carbon Neutral in October 2020. B Corp sets a benchmark in the way that business is conducted. We want to be part of the big movement and contribute to the redefinition of business success. We believe people, planet and profit are complimentary which is why we are very excited about becoming B Corp certified.”

As a carbon neutral company, Minor Figures offsets 100 percent of its carbon emissions by investing in carbon credits which are used to support carbon removal projects. This year's projects - Shade Grown Coffee Project, Nicaragua, Bamboo Aforestation Project, Nicaragua, and Chinchiná River Forestry Project, Colombia - work to restore biodiversity, reforestation, and support local communities, particularly those most directly affected by climate change.

Another huge part of Minor Figures’ sustainability efforts is about looking beyond just offsetting its carbon and into ways to reduce it. In September 2021, the cult coffee company began placing oat m*lk refill stations in package free stores and cafes across the UK, helping save over 300,000 Tetra Paks from entering the supply chain.

The brand added this is just the beginning of the journey. Thibault Guenat, Minor Figures Sustainability Manager, said: “It’s fantastic to officially be joining the B-Corp community after 22 months of work, and exciting to be able to work together with other B-Corps on shared challenges. Businesses can be a force for good and Minor Figures embodies that aspiration.”

“The next certification cycle will take place in 3 years and until then we’ll continue to ask ourselves the difficult question: ‘how can we be better?’”

Pernod Ricard UK ignites festive spirit with marketing push

As December rapidly approaches, Pernod Ricard UK is ramping up its festive marketing efforts, anticipating a resurgence in consumer confidence after a challenging year. The UK’s second-largest wine and spirits supplier is set to inspire consumers to choose Premium+ Spirits as the perfect gift or the ultimate addition to any home celebration. Throughout 2024, Premium+ Spirits have consistently outperformed Standard offerings, making this higher end of the sector a vital margin driver.

“Since last Christmas, consumer confidence has been on the rise and the outlook for the final month of 2024 is positive," said Chris Shead, Off-Trade Channel Director for Pernod Ricard UK. "Gifting and hosting remain two key trends and retailers should focus on increasing space in-store for Premium Spirits that act as the perfect gift or cocktail ingredient when wanting to show off in front of friends and family. Where possible, we encourage retailers to prioritise categories that have been capturing the hearts of consumers and this year, our big winners have been Altos Tequila, Kahlúa and Bumbu Rum, and we expect our Champagnes, G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, to be the toast of choice for festive parties this year.”
