Nisa retailers run Cider Festival event

Nisa is supporting its retailers with a wide range of ‘Refreshing Cider Deals’ to help their customers to stock up on their favourite fruity tipples during the warmer summer season.

With sales of cider tending to increase during the British summertime, the popular Cider Festival event will run in stores from the 15th July – 4th August and will support Nisa partners in generating additional sales with competitive pricing and offers on a wide range of ciders.

The promotion will be supported with themed marketing materials and POS to help retailers to create in-store theatre and draw attention to the category, whilst online the event will be promoted via the www.nisalocally.co.uk website and consumer-facing social media channels.

With the demand for refreshing, fruity ciders showing no signs of slowing down, lines incorporated in the promotion include 10 packs of 330ml Kopparberg Rosé, Kiwi and Lime or Pineapple and Raspberry Old Mout Cider at £10, 4 x 330ml.

Packs of Kopparberg Mixed Fruit or Strawberry and Lime are also on offer at £5 and 2 for £4* on bottled ciders including Rekorderlig Botanicals Rhubarb & Lemon 500ml, Thatchers Rosé and various Brothers ciders to name a few.

Meanwhile, more traditional favourites on offer during the festival include Strongbow Original and Cloudy Apple 10 x 440ml at £9, Magners Original Apple 18 x 440ml at £11 and Thatchers Gold 4 x 500ml or Haze 4 x 440ml for £4.50.

Nisa’s wholesale category controller for beer, ales and cider, Sam Yeadon, said: “While lockdown restrictions have already begun to ease, including those on pubs, bars and restaurants, many people are still choosing to drink at home; presenting a great opportunity for Nisa partners to capture these sales as shoppers continue to shop locally.

“In addition, customers will be looking for lighter drinks to enjoy with al fresco meals and BBQs, so our Cider Festival event will cater for these occasions and help shoppers stock up for less with competitive offers on a wide range of ciders.

“We expect rosé and fruit ciders – such as those featured in the promotion - to be big this summer as they give drinkers a lighter alternative to wine and are popular with younger customers.”

Although the UK's overall recycling rate has seen a significant rise, reaching 44 per cent in 2015 compared to just 17 per cent in 2008, progress has plateaued in recent years, with indications that the rate may now be declining.

Safer alternatives to cigarettes could save millions of lives and billions of pounds, says think tank

Promoting safer alternatives to cigarettes could save 19 million years of life by 2030 and reduce smoking-related costs to taxpayers by up to £12.6 billion annually, a new report from the Adam Smith Institute (ASI) has revealed.

The think tank argues that the UK government's current approach to achieving a Smoke Free 2030 - defined as reducing smoking rates to 5 per cent or lower - is both illiberal and unworkable and will significantly set back progress against smoking related harm. The ASI warns that policies such as a generational tobacco ban, a new tax on vapes, and restrictions on heated tobacco products and flavours will hinder harm reduction efforts.
