One O One Convenience Stores has launched a new scheme in partnership with the SGF’s Healthy Living Programme (HLP) to encourage customers to eat better.

Rolling out exclusively in a selection of One O One stores and online for home delivery customers, the ‘Cook at Home’ initiative will showcase a new healthier recipe every week that can be easily made at home, with all ingredients available in-store and online.

The National Chef for Scotland, Gary Maclean, has filmed short step-by-step videos to support the initiative.

The initiative aims to help customers eat fresh healthy meals and maintain household budgets as the cost of living rises, all whilst shopping locally.

“With a new recipe card being launched each week, with all ingredients available in-store or online for home delivery, we can highlight our great range of fresh, chilled, and frozen foods now available across One O One Stores,” Graeme Thomson, buying and merchandising manager at One O One, commented.

“This is another great opportunity for us to support our local communities and promote healthier eating habits.”

HLP field manager Gillian Edgar said they are “delighted” to renew its partnership with One O One.

“Due to number of fresh lines coming into stores, consumers are able, more than ever, to cook a whole meal from scratch, so why not make it a healthier choice,” she added.

The Healthy Living Programme, run by the Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) and funded by the Scottish government, supports Scottish independent retailers to offer healthy choices.

UK bans imports of German hams

Britain on Tuesday (14) banned imports of hams as well as many other meat and dairy products from Germany to try to prevent foot-and-mouth disease spreading in the country after a case was confirmed on the outskirts of Berlin last week.

The government said that while there were no cases of the livestock disease in Britain, the ban would help stop it spreading and protect British farmers and their livelihoods.

Lindt chocolate to raise prices again this year

Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Spruengli announced Tuesday that it would raise prices again in 2025 after strong sales last year showed that increases had not cut the appetite of consumers.

The group had already hiked prices by "mid-single" digits last year to offset the rising costs of cocoa.
