Ploom X Advanced named ‘Product of the Year’

Ploom X Advanced named ‘Product of the Year’

JTI (Japan Tobacco International) UK has today revealed that its Ploom X Advanced device has been named the best product available in the highly competitive Heated Tobacco category at the Product of The Year Awards 2024.

Product of the Year is the UK’s largest consumer survey of product innovation. Every year over 10,000 shoppers vote to crown the winning products in each category, giving retailers a true picture of what real customers think about the products they stock.

Launched in September 2023, the Ploom X Advanced is the latest heated tobacco device from JTI featuring an optimised HeatFlow system, with higher vapour volume during initial puffs offering an enhanced user experience, and faster charging, now taking less than 90 minutes to achieve a full charge for added convenience.

With 86% of shoppers more likely to buy a product that has won, retailers who stock Product of the Year winners can increase their sales. In only a few short months after launch, Ploom X Advanced has come top in the highly competitive category, proving the device’s improved features are addressing consumer’s needs.

“Just a few months after the launch, we are thrilled that Ploom X Advanced has come out on top in the Product of the Year awards 2024," said Mark McGuinness, Marketing Director at JTI UK. "In response to consumer feedback, we made some positive changes when we launched Ploom X Advanced, and the brand has gone from strength to strength with device sales doubling and EVO tobacco stick sales tripling year on year.

"With the Heated Tobacco category continuing to grow at a rapid rate, this award shows not only the success of our product, but the clear consumer interest in the category and Ploom.”

With the category currently worth £105 million in traditional retail and growing 20.5 per cent YOY, Heated Tobacco offers a huge opportunity for retailers.

Demand for lower-priced tobacco alternatives shows no signs of slowing, and the competitively priced Ploom X Advanced bundle offers excellent value for money within the Heated Tobacco category. As well as being more cost-effective for consumers, Heated Tobacco sticks also offer higher margins to retailers when sold at RRP.

The Ploom X Advanced is available in the bundle format in select wholesale depots within the Greater London area.

The bundle contains 1 Ploom X Advanced device and 2 packs of EVO tobacco sticks for RRP £19. The device is used exclusively with EVO tobacco sticks (RRP £4.50) which are available to London retailers within the M25.

Pernod Ricard UK ignites festive spirit with marketing push

As December rapidly approaches, Pernod Ricard UK is ramping up its festive marketing efforts, anticipating a resurgence in consumer confidence after a challenging year. The UK’s second-largest wine and spirits supplier is set to inspire consumers to choose Premium+ Spirits as the perfect gift or the ultimate addition to any home celebration. Throughout 2024, Premium+ Spirits have consistently outperformed Standard offerings, making this higher end of the sector a vital margin driver.

“Since last Christmas, consumer confidence has been on the rise and the outlook for the final month of 2024 is positive," said Chris Shead, Off-Trade Channel Director for Pernod Ricard UK. "Gifting and hosting remain two key trends and retailers should focus on increasing space in-store for Premium Spirits that act as the perfect gift or cocktail ingredient when wanting to show off in front of friends and family. Where possible, we encourage retailers to prioritise categories that have been capturing the hearts of consumers and this year, our big winners have been Altos Tequila, Kahlúa and Bumbu Rum, and we expect our Champagnes, G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, to be the toast of choice for festive parties this year.”
