Premier Foods recalls selected PMPs of Sharwood’s Balti Cooking Sauce

Premier Foods recalls selected PMPs of Sharwood’s Balti Cooking Sauce

Premier Foods has issued a product recall and allergy alert on selected price marked jars of Sharwood’s Balti Cooking Sauce 420g.

This is because they contain the ingredient ghee, which is a type of clarified butter that contains milk and has not been declared on the product label, meaning a possible health risk for anyone with a milk allergy.

This issue only affects products price marked at £2.99 RRP (barcode no: 5000354924620, best before end date JAN 2025, date code 3109 on lid).

Premier Foods has clarified that this product has only been sold to wholesalers, cash & carrys and convenience stores in the UK. No other Sharwood’s products or size variants are impacted.

“We take food safety extremely seriously and are working closely with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and have updated Allergy UK and The Anaphylaxis Campaign. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to assure customers of our continued commitment to the highest standards of product quality and food safety,” the firm said in a statement.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. Consumers who have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents are advised not to eat it. Instead, retain the packaging and contact 0800 085 3959 or complete the webform at www.sharwoods.com for a full refund.
