Primula spreads Easter joy with surprise donations

Primula has made surprise donations to worthy causes across the country on the occasion of Easter.

The cheese brand has invited the public to nominate charities making a difference in their local communities to receive a share of £45,000.

In the North East and Scotland, several charities including 4Louis, The Bradley Lowery Foundation, Success4All, Together Forever Trust, Feeding Families, and Share Alike have been selected to receive donations.

Beneficiaries in Yorkshire include Zarach, The Clothing Bank and The Homeless Street Angels, while Oscar’s Wish Foundation and The Charlie Gard Foundation have received donations in the South.

“We hope the funding will provide timely support for these worthy causes as the rise in the cost-of-living is set to hit households and the most vulnerable communities across the country,” the brand said in a statement.

Feeding Families, a Northeast-based charity offering support and security to people experiencing food poverty, received £1,000 and a food donation to help with the incredible work and services they provide to families in desperate need.

Juliet Sanders, chief executive of Feeding Families, said: “Feeding Families is delighted to have the support of Primula. Having moved into Gateshead only last year it is great when local businesses get behind us so quickly and support us with both funds and food. The demand for our services is rising worryingly this year and we are sure we haven't seen the peak yet so it's amazing when people see the need and get in early to help. This will make a massive difference to the families we help.”

Success4All, a charity working with disadvantaged children, and the Charlie Gard Foundation, which aims to be the leading UK charity supporting children, adults and their families affected by mitochondrial disease, have both been awarded £5,000.

Primula is owned by the Kavli Trust and every year the business donates millions of pounds to help make a difference to people and their communities. In 2021, £7.8 million was shared with worthy causes and over £62 million was donated throughout the last decade.
