Pringles announces non-HFSS range

Kellogg, which owns Pringles, has announced a multigrain, non-HFSS version of the iconic chip, in response to demand for lower salt snacks that include a variety of grains.

The new range contains fibre, and grains such as wheat and barley, but has less salt and maintains the same ‘hyperbolic paraboloid’ or ‘saddle shape’ chip the brand is famous for.

Kellogg said its researchers tried many different recipes to develop the non-HFSS Pringles Multigrain range due on store shelves later this month.

Sensory experts used more herbs and spices and natural flavours to replace some of the salt while keeping the same great taste of Pringles that people love.

“Kellogg’s is committed to developing foods that are better for people and provide more choice,” commented Chris Silcock, Kellogg’s UK managing director.

“We know that many adults want snack brands to offer more healthy options but they still want them to taste great. That’s why we developed the Pringles Multigrain range.”

New Pringles Multigrain has three different flavours - Sour Cream & Chilli, BBQ Sauce and Roast Chicken & Rosemary - and will be in addition to the brand’s 13 other varieties, such as Paprika and Sour Cream and Onion, already on sale in the UK.

The move is part of Kellogg’s decade long Wellbeing Plan, announced in 2021, that pledged to improve its foods and packaging so that they are better for people, the community and the planet.
