Prosecco brand La Gioiosa launches new alcohol-free sparkling wine

Premium prosecco brand La Gioiosa has added a new alcohol-free sparkling wine, La Gioiosa 0.0%, to its portfolio.

At just 22kcal per 100 ml, the drink is also lower in calories than most zero alcohol offerings it can fit into a health-conscious lifestyle.

“The launch of La Gioiosa 0.0% is very timely,” comments Kim Wilson, managing director at North South Wines, the Middlesex-based wine importer.

“We expect consumers to re-assess their way of life post-lockdown and wellness will be a key priority. Thanks to our experience with the successful Belle & Co. and Black Tower brands, we know the 0.0% market well and we believe there are cross references with the La Gioiosa shopper, who might want to limit their Prosecco intake but still have a rewarding La Gioiosa experience.”

La Gioiosa 0.0% is made by La Gioiosa winemaker Stefano Gava with 100 per cent Glera grapes, using a process different from de-alcoholised wine.

Whole grapes are put into a pneumatic press for soft pressing and the resulting must, after a first racking, is placed into temperature-controlled tanks at 0%, where it remains until it is used for the production of 0% sparkling. CO2 is added gently to ensure a fine perlage.

Owned by the Moretti Polegato family, La Gioiosa is one of the leading premium prosecco brands in the UK retail, with sales growing consistently ahead of the market over the last three years.

La Gioiosa 0.0% (RRP: £6.00) joins North South Wine’s portfolio of low and no products, which includes popular brands such as Belle & Co, Black Tower Low Alcohol and the De Bortoli Very Cautious One.
