PureOaty Barista reports lowest carbon footprint

PureOaty Barista reports lowest carbon footprint

Leading UK oat producer Glebe Farm Foods has announced the latest carbon reporting results for PureOaty Barista, which the company believes demonstrates the oat drink has the lowest carbon footprint on the UK market.

The results, analysed and produced by environmental impact assessment organisation My Emissions, form part of Glebe Farm Foods’ wider mission to become net zero by 2028.

With a score of just 0.268kgCO2e per litre in the latest, assessment, PureOaty Barista’s carbon footprint is now around half of the average oat milk available in the UK (0.576 kgCO2e/litre) as well as being a fifth lower than traditional dairy milk (1.201 kgCO2e/litre).

Glebe Farm Foods said its overall sustainability credentials can also be attributed to the huge investment in renewable and circular waste reduction. By utilising oat chaff to create heat and steam, the company has significantly reduced its energy consumption. Additionally, solar power supplements electricity use, further decreasing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

While other oats and oat milks are imported from across Europe, Glebe Farm Foods also grows, processes and packs its product all on one site, thanks to a £10 million investment in a state-of-the-art Tetra Pak plant. This ensures that the entire process, from milling to packing, covers a mere 150 metres. Packing on-site and sourcing locally grown oats eliminate up to a staggering 100,000 miles of transport, reinforcing Glebe Farm Foods’ commitment to local and sustainable production.

“The exceptionally low carbon score of PureOaty Barista highlights our commitment to sustainability and innovation. A prime example is our development of a system that enables us to mill oats using steam power from the heat generated by our chaff, thus avoiding the use of fossil fuels,” Philip Rayner, managing director, Glebe Farm Foods, said.

“This fantastic milestone not only sets PureOaty Barista apart as a market-leading product but also demonstrates our dedication to reducing environmental impact in every aspect of our production. We’re always looking at how we can evolve and do better and through our partnership with My Emissions, we’ll continue to track and improve our operations to ensure we reach our net zero target by 2028.”

Jameson teams up with Admiral, for a tracksuit modelled by Kyle Jameson

Irish Whiskey brand Jameson has been the English Football League's (EFL) main spirits sponsor for two seasons and is deeply entrenched in all aspects of the league, including player sponsorships. It has now signed up with Admiral to celebrate both brands' association with the beautiful game. They have worked closely together to create a full retro-inspired tracksuit in Jameson’s signature green, featuring key elements from Admiral’s world-famous designs for team performance wear, to create a slouchy royal green trackie ready prepped for pubs, presents, party games and freezing cold five-a-sides this Christmas.

Jameson shares a history rich with the beautiful game, so teaming up with an iconic heritage brand like Admiral felt like a natural fit, with the results speaking for themselves,” said Josh McCarthy, Brand Director for Pernod Ricard UK. “A classic tracksuit, from two classic brands, to look sharp after the match when buying your mates a round of Jameson, Ginger and Lime. Nostalgia is everywhere at the moment and growing up in Leicester, there was no shortage of Admiral tops in the park and at the local football clubs.”
